The active tanning ingredient in our Premium Blends is a natural sugar derivative
called DHA (dihydroxyacetone). DHA works with the proteins in the top layer of the skin (the epidermis) to produce melanoidins, very similar in color to
melanin, which is the natural skin pigment based color produced by UV created suntan.Although all sunless tanning solutions contain DHA as the active
sunless tanning ingredient, we use the highest quality of DHA, and have the premier form of Erythrulose available. These top of the line active tanning agents
coupled with superior formulating and specialized blending techniques, allow Premium Blends to give you a truly All Natural Looking, Streak-Free Tan!
Please note that DHA reacts with every person differently - some people with tan darker and longer. We work with you to find the best tan colour for you.
Should I exfoliate first?
Yes, always exfoliate first, since any dry loose surface skin, dirt, or moisturizing products will negatively alter the results of any sunless tanning application.
Premium Blends is an all natural product, that should be applied while the skin is clean and evenly exfoliated.
How long will it take for my tan to develop?
Our Premium Blends has a very quick developing time. You will start to notice results within the first one to two hours of your application. With all of our
formulas you may shower or "rinse off" the color guide in about 4hrs but if you want the darkest brownest sunless tan possible do not shower for 8 to 14
hours. This will allow our proprietary
blend of cosmetic bronzers to actually absorb into your skin surface providing a very deep rich brown natural looking tan with little to NO rub off after
showering.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND FAIR OR LIGHT SKINNED PEOPLE DOING THIS WITH OUR STRONGER FORMULAS. WHEN USING OUR SUNLESS TANNING
SOLUTIONS ALWAYS USE THE RECOMMENDED STRENGTH FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE. OUR STRONGER FORMULAS ARE NOT FOR ALL SKIN TYPES.
Is there any unpleasant self tanning odor?
No, our blend is refreshingly scented with pure natural lemon grass, cucumber melon which eliminates excessive DHA smell on most clients.
Can I be in the Sun after getting sprayed with VIP Premium Blends??
Yes, allow solution to dry and then apply a sunscreen of SPF15 or higher to protect your skin from the UV rays. With any sun exposure reapply sunscreen at
regular intervals
( minimum every 2 hours) and re apply directly after swimming or heavy sweating. If you sweat within 6-8 hours of sunless solution application, you may have
uneven tan development.
How long will my spray tan last?
The colour lasts up to 6-10 days and naturally removes the dead skin cells. Depending on your daily habits and activities.
Do you offer spray tans for people with fair skin? I don’t want to go too DARK.
Yes many of our clients are very fair. We stock lighter solution available
specifically designed for paler skin.
Can I COME to you?
Yes we have 2 currently operate at 2 salons located in East Auckland. Scissor Sisters Hair Salon , Orakei /St Heliers
or Opening Soon Boxstars Gymnasium 295 Ti Rakau Drive Botany, All Salons are By appointment only.
Alternatively you may request us to attend to your local hair salon or beauty house if they cannot provide a salon tanning service.
We also offer a mobile tanning service flexible hours however this service is a little more due to costs of travel and time.
Do I receive any discounts or special benefits if I become a regular customer?
Yes we have a loyalty program. Every 10th Tan is Free! We’ll record your card after every appointment so we can keep track.
You can also take advantage of our Prepaid Spraytan Benefits! Must be within 15 week period.
Do you cater for wedding bridal parties?
Absolutely - booking well in advance we recommend wedding parties have theirs sprays 2 days prior to the wedding.
Do I get a discount for group bookings?
Of course. Please discuss your groups requirements with us
I want a spray tan but I’m too embarrassed/self conscious. Is your service discreet?
We understand that spray tanning can be very daunting, especially if you’ve never had one before. We guarantee that 95% of our clients were nervous
before their first appointment too! Your anxiety will vanish when the appointment begins and you see how routinely the spray tan is applied. Our spray tan
clients see bodies of all shapes and sizes many times on a daily basis. Chances are if you’ve got something you’re self conscious about, it’s nothing we haven’
t seen before and chances are we won’t even notice! Our job is to focus on our spray tan application to ensure you have the best possible results. Some
people choose to wear lingerie or swim wear or just have their legs sprayed.
Can pregnant or breastfeeding women be sprayed?
Testing has shown that DHA does not penetrate the skin, nor enter the blood stream. Therefore, it appears safe to spray pregnant women.
However, as a precaution we suggest clients who are pregnant seek Medical Approval from their doctor. For women who are breastfeeding, ensure their
nipples are wiped over before breastfeeding or better still, cover the nipple area during the spray tan session.
Will spray tan solution stain my clothes? What should I wear after my tanning session?
We suggest cotton fabrics as the bronzer will wash out easily from cotton. Anything synthetic such as silk or rayon will need to be taken to the dry cleaners for
the spray tan to be removed. Also, the clothing should be loose.
Can I wear make-up when tanning?
Yes! Wearing make-up is fine; however clients should not wash their face for the first 2 hours after their tan as water stops the development process. We
suggest clients apply the makeup before the tanning session and have a light spray over the face. It should be noted that make-up will act as a barrier so if
clients wear make-up it is likely that the tan on their face will be slightly lighter than on the rest of their body.
During my shower, I have noticed some colour washing away?
This is fine and completely normal. The excess colour that is washing away is the bronzer not your spray tan.
How often should I moisturize after being spray tanned? – The more the better! We advise moisturizing once a day in summer,
twice a day in winter months. This will help their tan to fade evenly while keeping their skin well nourished.
